Happy Valentine’s day everyone,
I hope you are enjoying your day by sharing your love with someone special.
As promised to hubby, this morning we had heart sharped eggs for breakfast. I also gave him a homemade love card. It was very difficult waking up and I wasn’t hungry but I wanted to see him before our busy day started and wish him a good day. Was it a romantic breakfast? Not so much, while I was cooking, hubby was getting ready for work and when we were seated at the table, we were both talking about our son. I’m sure parents can relate to this. I have noticed that most of our conversations are about our baby, well our live’s do revolve around him. Nevertheless, what’s important is that we both still try to do these little romantic acts for each other even when it’s not Valentine’s day.
So, today I wanted to share with you one last small Valentine sweet we had a couple of days ago; strawberries dipped in white and milk chocolate.
Let me explain to you how it all started: a couple of months ago, I got this book recipe “Les Meilleures Recettes HERSHEY’s” from our local supermarket. The book is written in French, but you might be able to find it in English in your area.
It is full of delicious recipes, the pictures look fantastic and they make my mouth water, so I decided to try a couple of them from the book but not all of the recipes came out the way they look in the book. I still decided to share some of the best outcomes with you. The strawberries don’t look perfect but they tasted great! If you want to do something sweat for your other half, this is an easy and fast Valentine treat to try even if it looks messy in my pictures or if you don’t get them right.
This is the recipe book from Hershey’s, did you see the picture with the strawberries, don’t they look yummy? What a beautiful presentation:
Now, this is a picture of how mine turned out. Not too bad?
Please let me show you how I prepared them:
I started by gathering these 3 ingredients;
- milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips
- white chocolate chips
- fresh and refrigerated strawberries
After you have melted your milk and white chocolate in the microwave in two separate bowls for several seconds, you can dip each strawberry in the chocolate (half of the strawberry in the white chocolate and then do same for the other half in the milk chocolate). Accordingly to the book, you just microwave the chocolate for a couple of seconds but you can also melt the chocolate by using a double boiler and stirring the chocolate in low heat. I have used and prefer the latter but you will achieve the same result with both options when preparing this treat. After dipping the strawberries in chocolate, you could also add toppings of your choice: maybe sprinkles or maybe cookie crumbs:
I will try to surprise him with these Valentine treats before he’s back from work but only if I can manage assistance from my little helper.
When I look at this last picture it reminds me of when we were dating, he used to surprise me with strawberries dipped in dark Godiva chocolate and a chocolate box they were delicious. I know many of you don’t celebrate this day and might think it’s too cheesy and commercial, but we love it, this will be our 9th Valentine day together. Yes I am the romantic one and I do love spending this day with my Valentine:
I wanted to share one last thing with you, it’s not food.
Last evening we went to get our groceries and while we were waiting in line, I noticed a sale sign in the “Valentine’s section” not too far from the cash, no one was around, I took Nate with me, left hubby in the line and went scouring for a deal, I found 5 inexpensive Valentine decorative tapes, I only took these from the sale because nothing else grabbed my attention.
It’s no washi tape but I knew they would do. Have you seen or heard all the craze about washi tape? Well, it’s all over Pinterest and I have been pinning about it too. During my last trip at Michael’s store I got two washi tape’s for only $2.99 on special and I am thinking of different ways I could use them. Anyhow, let me show you what I did with the tape I bought yesterday; I covered half of the back of my iPhone, this was an idea I gathered from Pinterest and then I continued with my laptop mouse and my laptop.
It’s cute and the tape can be easily removed without leaving a trace when I want, but for today they will stay:
Wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s day!
Thanks again for stopping by!

Laura says:
That tape is so cute! I had never heard of that before! I totally agree about finding little moments to share some intimacy and romance all year long. Don’t save it for special occasions only!!
And when I melt chocolate, I do it on low heat in a saucepan and add just a bit of vegetable oil. Makes it a little more smooth! Chocolate covered strawberries are Yum!!!
now at home mom says:
Thank you for the tip Laura, I will try it with vegetable oil; to get smooth melted chocolate! so yummy!
I will try it now, my baby is napping so timing is perfect
The tape to use is washi crafting tape and the ones I used today is a simple decorative tape! We do try to do small things for each other but sometimes it’s very difficult with a baby, but we try!

Chocolate & strawberries – now that’s a great combo.
It is hard to escape talking about the children. I agree with you that you need to make time for little romantic acts.
now at home mom says:
Oh! yes! only the best combo! ha!ha!
it was delicious! Yes, indeed, it is very hard to escape talking about your kids, lately it seems it’s everything we talk about. I think it’s normal, every time we plan something ; the baby is involved! Hope when he gets older, hubby and I we will have more time for each other but I have a feeling this won’t happen soon!
Happy Valentine’s day Larry to you and your wife!
