Yesterday evening I decided to take on another small DIY project, I transformed my old wicker baskets into two-toned wicker baskets. This idea is from the September “Chatelaine” issue that arrived in my Zinio account three days ago.
In their issue (page 20), they explain that it’s a 10-minute project “Just dip it: DIY two-toned paint effect”
When I read it, I knew it would be a good idea for me to try this one, it’s easy to do and it would give these old baskets a new life.
This project was also shown on “Cityline”, TV show that aired two days ago (August 14), the steps to follow are explained in the magazine and in their TV segment.
So, I tried it and this is how it went:
I started by protecting my table with old newspapers.
Then I brushed half of the wicker baskets with paint (you could also dip the baskets in paint as shown in the TV show and magazine).
These old baskets are now displayed in our bookshelves and used as storage for my son’s toys in our basement.
They go with the decor of our space and I’m no longer ashamed of displaying them.
