Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is doing great, for us it’s been good. We are happy it’s Friday. Two evenings ago, I started creating a “collage” of accessories I already had in our house and how I gave them a new life by using them as storage for my new craft room. I love how this “collage” looks. I know, it’s taking a while for me to post pictures of my new space, but the pictures will be coming soon. I would also like to work on the closet we have in this room but because the budget wouldn’t allow any more expenses, this will be another project in the future to share with you.
Last Sunday, we brought our son to visit his grand parents and to my surprise my mother-in-law gave me some things that I could use for my new craft room. I took a picture of them, once we got home:
Below, you will see how I used the accessories:
This is a very simple project, you just need a clean recycled coffee can, paint and a brush and voila:
I decided to only paint 3/4 of the can but you can do it in any way you want to, you can paint half of it or all of it:
This next project was inspired from “houseandhome” online tv, you can visit their website under DIY videos “DIY Tiered Dessert Tray”The instructions were very simple, I used these pans I had around since 2010 that I got from a liquidation sale 2 for $4.50 glued them to candle sticks with “Gorilla super glue”, the candle sticks you see in the pictures are the same ones I used on previous post. I had to recycle them because I couldn’t afford new ones. This new DIY tray is now on top of my desk, it’s useful:
I used this two dollar store bowls to store crayolas and chalk because if you have been following my blog for a bit, you may already know that my little 20 month old follows me around 24/7, so when I spend time in this room, he’s with me, so I need to keep him busy with these.
I love these two trays below, so nice how my markers and colour chalk are now displayed. My mother-in-law gave them to me too:
Look how I store my pen, pencils and markers collection: all this was found in my kitchen. I never noticed mason jars before but if you search Pinterest, you will find so many ideas and DIY projects you can do with these. These jars have helped me decorated the space for free:
In the picture below, you can see a small pink plant holder found at the dollar store, the bottom tray was missing so I got it for only $0.75 instead of $1.50 and the decorative plate is another gift from my mother-in-law:
The plate in the picture below is one gift from my mother-in-law too, I used it as “post-it” holder, is next to my desk too:
To store and display these colorful buttons, I bought these small spice jars at the dollar store (3 for $2.00):
Do you remember the dollar store basket wrapped with pink ribbon?
My mother-in-law gave me two more for my craft room, I wrapped them around pink ribbon too. They look pretty and I now have more storage:
These ones, are some of the other baskets my mother-in-law gave me, I am using the pink basket to store the notebooks I keep and love to have next to me. The white basket has a handle on the front, so my craft paint is now easy to access:
K, if you are reading this, I would love to thank you again for all these little gifts, they made a difference in this room
I am using two baskets, a candle holder vase, a paper towel roll holder and a cookie jar to hold my ribbons and duck tape. They are visible and easy to access:
In the picture below: you can see them on the paper towel roll holder and on an old candle holder vase:
I used this cookie jar to store my twine and a red ribbon:
Then, I used this small pink cupcake tray to display this very old pin holder:
I’m happy to have shown you what you can do with simple things to store your craft room materials.
Now, please take a look at the picture below and try to guess what it is! Have fun, I will only let you know until next post. I hope you are not bored of my “craft room status update” posts. If you do, please leave me a comment, I would like to know if you guessed right.
Thanks again for stopping by!

Thank you Alex! I have started enjoying the room but my son is always with me so I have to be careful with what he’s playing with. I can only enjoy the room after everyone goes to sleep. ha!ha! Thanks again Alex, btw, I read your post today; I really liked it.
