Living Room ready for Fall

Ready for Fall Living Room Reveal

nowathomemom Living Room Reveal

Hello everyone,

How are you doing? Hope you are having a great week!

I’m glad to have finally taken the pictures of our living room and get to share them with you today. You might have noticed from my previous post that I choose to decorate it with the colors white, black, blue, gray and because Fall will soon be here I added gold and orange to the mix.

Before you start looking at the pictures I want to let you know that there is nothing too precious in our living room other than my two year old little boy and my two little dogs because if there were any, they would have long been broken by Nate. One day when my son will be older I will add pretty things to this space but for now this is what it is! I still get scared when he tries to reach for a lamp. Most of his toys are kept in his ‘crates/toy storage’ and in baskets. I removed them while I was taking the pictures.

The pictures are not amazing, some of them were taken with my iPhone because my camera is not working well. Even if we get a lot of natural light in this space, it was difficult taking pictures and once I transferred them to my desktop a lot of them were very dark as if I had taken them during night time.

Hope you enjoy the small tour of my living room. Many of the items you see here are DIY projects that I’ve been working on this last month.

Believe it or not, Nate pulled the plug out of my desktop while I was transferring the pictures from my camera and the original file was corrupted. I lost many pictures including the ones I wanted to show you of my ‘DIY projects/tutorials’.

Remember, how my living room looked? In case you don’t or you are new here, this is the before picture:

Living Room with white IKEA sofa and white rug

We changed the furniture and the layout of this space. I love this small sectional and how well it fits against the window. We added two grey chairs to add more sitting space for when we have friends over:

Townhouse Living Room Final Reveal

For Fall, I decided to add a touch of orange to this space with 2 big orange pillows and one knitted orange pouf. What I love about this neutral space is that at any moment/season I can change the look simply by switching pillow covers. I can’t wait to decorate for the Holidays. Are you like me, are you already thinking on how to decorate your space for Christmas?

Living Room Reveal FINAL 04

I added this golden desk lamp as an accent piece but it’s also functional when I have time to read my magazines in the evening:

Those two gold and black canvas on the right of the picture below are another DIY project of mine. I used gold leaf and then painted the rest with black paint. If you notice most of the ‘art’ in our walls were made by yours truly. The lamps are also another DIY project, they are the same ones you see in the ‘before’ picture of our living room.

Living Room Townhouse Reveal with Fiddle Leaf Fig IKEA plant

We don’t have the white IKEA sofa anymore in this space. We brought it back in our bedroom and we decided to bring our white sectional from the basement back to our living room. I still wanted to keep white furniture in this small space because I love how bright it looks during the day. I’ve placed different types of lamps at different heights, so at night the room feels cozy. You can see below how the room looks during the evenings. The room was staged of course and during the evenings this room gets very messy with toys, books, magazines and pillows all over the floor. You can also find 2 or 3 empty cups of coffee from hubby and me around too. The grey chairs end up in our dining area too. That’s what happens when you have a little boy. We need new curtains to frame the windows and to add more color to this space. I am glad I removed the old ones because they didn’t look well in this space anymore. I will be looking for new ones online this week, we need them before Fall arrives (hubby doesn’t agree with me on this one) :

Living Room Reveal FINAL 02

This frame was black but I wanted to add gold touches to our room so I sprayed paint it in gold:

nowathomemom Living Room Reveal

I love how the knitted orange pouf pops against the white and grey furniture. Nate, loves playing with this knitted pouf every day. I remove the small white table from the living room when Nate is too excited (he gets hurt) and I don’t leave any pretty flowers or notebooks around either. The flowers and notebooks were just for staging but the rest of the space stays the same. You might have also noticed that I replaced the big white mirror by this small wall gallery with black, white and gold frames. It didn’t start looking like this but one afternoon while Nate was taking a nap I decided to add gold frames and remove two black ones. I would love to add more frames to this gallery and maybe re-arrange them but it will have to wait for later. They will remain as is for now. I tried my best to remove ‘Angel’ our tiny dog from the living room while I was taking the pictures but he kept coming back. See if you can find him:

This space is still a work in progress. Friends I’m working very hard on getting my IKEA white and black rug before winter gets here. Wish me luck.

Thanks again for stopping by!

Girlfriend- I love the couch you have now! I’d keep it! I’m jealous; I had an ugly green sofa til Bella was 5. I was too scared she’d throw up or poo on something nice:) I love your wall art. My mom says a house isn’t a home if you don’t make some of your own wall decor. My father in law says a house with plants or a garden is a home that’s loved. My grandma says a house without a little mess isn’t properly lived in:) so you pass all 3 tests!
How much are you spending on curtains? I’m wondering if it would be worth it to make them. It doesn’t always save you money to sew your own curtains though, unless you get a good deal or upcycle. I’m loving your white curtains…I was wondering if you might hang your new curtains on a separate rod above the white ones…then you could tie them back sometimes. I totally want to come sit in your living room, drink coffee, and read a book!

:-) I know what you mean about the sofas, that’s why we bought the brown sectional, he still makes a mess in the living room but less with food but I’m scared one day he will start drawing on them ha!ha! :-) & YAY! about passing the 3 tests, your family knew well what they were talking about (I love the one about a house with plants is a home that’s loved!) Thanks Amy! :-) you made my day!
what a great idea Amy of hanging the new curtains on a separate rod above, I will ask hubby to do this for me! as for the budget for new ones, I think maybe 200 max. or I will try to find pretty ones from IKEA (I have to google now) I don’t want to spend too much money for them! :-)
& I would love it if you could visit and have you for a cup of coffee Amy! too bad we are so far away!
      thanks again Amy!

Nice transformation, Ingrid. I wouldn’t have thought you could fit a couch (or sectional) in front of the window but it totally works and I love how inviting it makes the space. Adding the two grey chairs makes it cozy with more seating but surprisingly it doesn’t seem smaller or crowded. (I’m sure with the toys, magazines, coffee cups, etc. it can feel a little different too). You staged it beautifully, your fall touches are perfect – the colors and different textures all add to the total look. Your artwork and frames, the plant – well, every detail works well. Excellent!
