It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Tuesday morning, woke up early to start cleaning our bedrooms while Nate was asleep.
Called hubby, said he was running late for work because of all the snow.
All the snow?
Yay!
Hung up the phone, put the toys away, opened the curtains from Nate’s bedroom window and there it was, all the snow I’ve been dreaming about for over a month.
We live in Montreal and it started snowing on Monday but when I woke up on Tuesday morning it looked like a post card.
All white and calm.
I have always loved snow.
When I was 7 years old, I got sick many times during winter because after school instead of coming back straight home, I used to stay outside playing on top of a large pile of snow left behind a church.
I used to spend my afternoons playing with friends on that white mountain, until it would start getting dark and my mom would start getting worried about my whereabouts. When I used to get home, my snow jacket, snow pants and boots were soaked.
My mom would get mad and tell me “why don’t you listen to me, you will get sick again and miss school”.
She was always right.
I used to get sick and miss school for days.
OK, enough talk about me, let’s come back to what’s going on now; our little man was sick for the last 3 days with fever, Monday we took him to the clinic for his 18 month shot and the doctor refused to give him the shot because of the fever. These last three days have been difficult on him and on us, not much sleep and he hasn’t been eating much either. It’s Wednesday evening, hubby is upstairs trying to put him to bed, he is feeling much better and ate spaghettis for supper
We have been snuggling in front of the TV for the last three days, I have to admit, I love it when he hugs me and calls me “Mama, mama hum hum ah”, let me translate this for you; “Mama don’t go, come back and sit with me”. He can say a couple of words but he’s not talking yet. Today, he’s better, he is in a good mood and has plenty of energy to play with his toys and make a mess in our house.
As you can see in these pictures, our dogs are the only ones who are having fun around here when they go and play outside in the yard.
Please let me share with you these little DIY’s I did a couple of weeks ago, I think one of them represents very well the state of our house:
This DIY project was inspired by a quote, I read from a picture pinned on Pinterest, when I first read it, I was only going to pin it and write it down on a post-it to always remind myself that even though my household tasks are not complete and my house looks like we just had an earthquake, my little one is happy because he is loved and appreciated.
It was very simple to do, took some left-over hardwood flooring from our kitchen renovation, painted the letters in white, drilled the hardwood flooring to a long piece of wood. We then, drilled it in our eat-in-kitchen wall.
I love it!
Before drilling it to the wall, my hubby thought it would be a good idea to glue it to the wall.
It didn’t work.
It fell.
It was too heavy and left some ugly glue spots on the wall.
This is another DIY; a Christmas sign for our home:
repeat the same steps as the previous one, except I painted the dark hardwood flooring in white and then the letters in red (for Christmas)
Keeping up with the Christmas spirit, this is another Christmas decoration I was inspired to create from one of Steven and Chris Christmas episode, they used a vase, a small tree and fake snow. I didn’t have any small trees around, only scented pinecones from the dollar store and did my best to re-create their look. It was very easy to do:
- Spray paint pinecones with fake snow and let them dry for at least two hours
- Arrange the pinecones in the vase
- Add fake snow in the vase and shake it (I couldn’t shake the vase too much, it was heavy!)
Voila, you have a center piece or a new decoration for your Christmas vignette
Hope everyone will have a good time during the Holidays, my thoughts and prayers to all those whom have been affected by last Friday’s event, I can’t write anything about it, no words, too sad.
Thanks again for stoping by! xxx

Merry Christmas! When I first looked at your snow picture I thought of White Christmas; gorgeous! I am glad your son is better. It is hard on parents when their children are ill; no matter what age they are. I love the signs; so cute! And the pine cones look so elegantly beautiful!
