Halloween Mason Jars

Halloween mason jars

Hi everyone,

you are the best, you have no idea how much I appreciate your sweet comments from yesterday’s post. I really do. Thank you for the love.

I can’t believe I’m back today but I had to share with you a simple and quick Halloween project that I made this afternoon while Nate was calm watching a movie; Halloween mason jars. I love all those mason jar projects that we see everywhere, I’ve done a few myself and this one was the easiest one them. Is it too early to start decorating for Halloween? Nope, I don’t think so!

Halloween mason jars

I used 3 mason jars, black acrylic paint, a small brush and a gold leafing pen that I used for my gold office accessories last summer:

Mason jars and black acrylic paint ready for Halloween

with a small brush I painted the exterior of the mason jars in black:

don’t they look scary now; perfect for Halloween right?

I traced bats with a pencil and then I followed the lines with the gold leafing pen; they don’t look perfect but I tried my best. Does it look like a 5 year old drew them?

I love them very much, I took pictures of them in our living room but I’m keeping these in our kitchen right now. I love the black and gold very much and I’m glad I’m getting ready for Halloween already:

Hubby really likes them, he says they look like “BATMAN” mason jars, not the look I was going for but that’s okay.

Are you getting ready for Halloween too?

before I let you go, I wanted to thank the person that nominated me for the Good Neighbor Award, hosted by my dear friend Katherine don’t know who you are because it’s anonymous but thank you so much! I’m still amazed about all the beautiful comments many bloggers left on her post in regards to other bloggers. If you want to know more, please make sure to visit her blog and see what I’m talking/writing about.

another great friend of mine Alex from Northstory just started this amazing Blogging group Canadian Home, Decor & Lifestyle Bloggers (The Canadian Blogging Belles), I’m amazed at how fast this group has grown on FB. If you are a Canadian blogger, I would love to invite you, it’s all about sharing and connecting with other bloggers. thanks again Alex and Christine for the invite

Thanks again for stopping by!

Don’t be mad…the minute I saw them I thought “those would be awesome with the bat signal!” I love batman. Nope, yours isn’t Batmanly but that would be my version lol! I haven’t put out a thing for fall but blogging does sort of push you to move a little faster. I’m working on some dollar store kitchen towel makeovers…then I will unpack my spooky stuff and get it out. Gosh, in blog time I should be preparing for Thanksgiving now I think- sheesh!! I love your mason jars & always look forward to seeing your next project!

I was looking forward to see how you used your paint pen :) They are so fun! Are you going to put candles in them for halloween night? I’m curious how light would show through the black paint. They might have a spooky glow :)

I’m wondering if somehow having the bat shape come through with no paint? Maybe drawing on it with a crayon that the paint wouldn’t adhere to? then the candle would highlight the bat (OR for those batman enthusiasts, a bat signal)! Do you think that could work? I’m thinking a battery candle so there’s no danger of the heat melting the paint or heating up the jar too much….

    October 1, 2013 at 10:05 pm
    • now at home mom says:

thank you so much for the idea and yes, I think that would work and look lovely too! :-) & a bat signal would be fun to make too!
I also believe that a small battery candle would be better instead of a candle for security reasons :-) thanks so much for the ideas and glad you visited today! :-)
