DIY projects … slight obsession with RED part II

cork board decorated with red ribbon and red frame

Hi Guys,

This is my second post about my slight obsession with RED

I have 3 small DIY projects to share with you:

this DIY project was inspired by this lovely snow globe (from COSCO):

snow globe from COSCO

When I first saw this snow globe, I knew I had to have it, what I loved the most about it was the pedestal, I bought it and placed it on top of my “buffet” and one morning while having breakfast with my baby, I had the idea of creating my own “decorations” with things I had around the house.

These are the pictures I want to share with you about the simple projects I did to decorate my eat-in-kitchen without buying any new items:

as you can see from the pictures above, the candle sticks are very similar to the pedestal of the snow globe, I just glued the “apple” and “pumpkin” to the candle sticks and voila! (DIY project = 3 seconds)

after red plate   after red plate

I used a simple plate to create a food/fruit platter by painting the plate in red and then glued it to the candle stick (note: after spray-painting the plate, let it dry for 1 day)

p.s.: for the last 2 years, I had 6 candle sticks from Pier1, they were never used!

Now, this is a simple cork board (I’ve had it for over 2 years) decorated with RED ribbon (bought it last year from the “dollar store” ) and then painted the frame in light gray (this paint, was used back in October to paint our kitchen) , I also painted this simple black frame in red, then added a piece of cork board (from the “dollar store”), wrapped some red ribbon around the cork to add a splash of color.

I bought this cork board a while ago, I’ve always wanted one in my kitchen to add pictures of our family or recipes but never took time to do it, so finally we have one!

My slight obsession of red did not contain itself to just the kitchen because it has now spread into my living room! 🙂

Do you guys like to transform your old objects into new ones around the house?

P.S.: guys, this is a sneak peek of the DIY projects done with “Mint Majesty” color paint, stay tuned! 🙂

I myself just picked up two of those snow globes from Costco! They were so pretty, I couldn’t resist. I love your idea of making your own decorative pillars.
Yaaa, I’m stealing this idea. Don’t tell the cops. 🙂
