Decorate your space for the Holidays with these 3 inexpensive DIY projects using burlap

DIY Burlap ProjectsLast year, I realized we had burlap/jute around the house, I kept telling myself I should do something with it. This year, I finally took the roll of burlap,  visited one of my favorite sites: “Pinterest”, looked around for DIY ideas, pinned some and started working on these small inexpensive DIY burlap projects to decorate different spaces around our house.

Before I tell you how I did all this, I need to warn you:

 . you will get messy

. burlap is very messy to work with!

Please, don’t forget, when I made these, it was for fun, so be creative and let your imagination go wild

I started by this one:
Decorative DIY burlap Christmas stocking (no-sewing required)
Everywhere in the web, we can see many pictures and tutorials about DIY stockings, I thought it would be a great idea to do my own + no-sewing required
Burlap DIY Christmas stocking   tools:
. burlap/jute
. felt (I choose the color in red)
. 3 buttons (I choose the color green)
. hot glue gun . red felt ribbon (I got mine at the “dollar store”)
 instructions:   cut the stocking form
trace the stocking in the burlap fabric and cut it
cut felt ribbon and place it on stocking
cut and glue the felt ribbon on top of the stocking
Glue 3 buttons to the felt ribbon
place and glue 3 buttons on top of the felt ribbon (decorate as you wish)
    gather tools
get your tools ready to trace the “flowers” on a piece of paper
decorations for burlap stocking
I traced 3 “flowers” on a piece of paper before cutting them on the burlap fabric and felt ribbon
  cut flower on burlap
cut the “flower” on the burlap fabric

Decorative Canvas with painted wooden letters:
(N.R.V.: this is my baby’s first letters of his name, middle name and last name)
My inspiration for this project is from a picture I found on “Pinterest”, I verified the source and you should take a look at this lady “Virginia” ‘s blog, go and see what she creates
canvas Burlap and name initials
tools:
. burlap/jute
. a canvas (got mine from Omer DesSerres)
. 3 wooden letters (got mine from Walmart at $1.49 can. each)
. hot glue gun (got mine over 2 years ago at HomeStaples)
. DIY staple gun (got mine over a year ago at HomeStaples)
instructions:

Tools for canvas with burlap

gather around the table the tools you need, start by wrapping the burlap around the canvas and staple it to the canvas

my son playing with wood letters

this is my little helper, I asked him to hold the wood letters while I was wrapping the burlap around the canvas, he left with them to watch TV and didn’t want to give them back.  He likes to hang around when I’m working on something.

Tools for canvas with burlap

paint the wooden letters with white paint (or the color of your choosing)

Tools for canvas with burlap

after you paint the letters, leave them to dry for at least an hour, I left mine to dry for over 3 hours

Tools for canvas with burlap

glue the letters to the burlap fabric

canvas with burlap

voila! you now have your own DIY burlap monogram canvas

Plant holder covered with burlap and a red ribbon

(this last one is very simple to do)

tools:

. burlap/jute

. plant holder

. ribbon (I choose a red felt ribbon)

instructions:

burlap jute and plant

burlap jute wrapped around plant

wrap the burlap around the plant holder

burlap and red ribbon wrapped around plant

wrap a ribbon around the burlap fabric, I choose red to create a festive look for the Holidays, I used a glue gun to hold it together

Burlap was a fun way to create all these little, easy to do it yourself and very inexpensive projects, hope you get to try them!
