sneak peak DIY projects

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a great week, I have being taking advantage of this amazing weather, all thanks to Lidia’s offering to the Goddess of Spring. I also took time to do some much needed spring-cleaning around the house. Unfortunately, after many hours of cleaning I’m still not done. Don’t forget, I have a 23 month old running around or behind me and undoing most of what I just did. Anyhow, I finally took some time last night to write this post and I’m very excited about it. It’s a sneak peek of the projects I have been working on or will be working on very soon but I’m not ready to share them with you just yet. I have wanted to post this since last week but I was never sure how to go about writing it. So, here it goes:

Over a week ago, my younger brother surprised us with boxes of ceramic tiles knowing how much I enjoy DIY’s and that I have been considering replacing the ugly tiles from our main floor bathroom or the ones from our entrance. He got them for us at a very low price ($15) for the entire set because these were the only ones left.

Great deal, isn’t it?

I was excited when he told us all these boxes were a gift for us and to use them however we wanted to. Too many great ideas started going through my mind at the same time. Of course, how often does this happen? I guess, hubby and I we have a lot of work to do in the next weeks to come. But knowing us, this is a project that will only get started in June once the days will get longer and warmer. I will keep you posted and will probably create myself a new Pinterest board just for this, I need inspiration.

When my brother gave us all this ceramic tiles as a gift, I started visualizing how they would look in either our entrance or in our main floor bathroom. Because, we had no choice when it came to the color of the ceramic tiles, I keep thinking about different color schemes for these two spaces.

These are the colors that I’m entertaining: dark grey and red:

Now, after many sleepless nights, I don’t think I will opt for red. As you may already know, red is my favourite color and I’m often drawn to this color but after much thought, I think it’s too bold for an entrance or a bathroom. Hubby says the red would give him stage fright. If you know me well by now; there will be endless hours of shopping for paint.

Monday, started off well with my first spray painting project of the year. I won’t show you yet what I spray painted but I will show you the color I choose: yellow. Yellow, it’s a fun color and it’s perfect for spring and summer. If I don’t like it or want it anymore, I can always paint it again, right?

What else has kept me busy during these last days?

I’m a little bit ashamed of admitting this but I have been updating my recently completed craft room again. If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I keep changing the furniture around in my home. I won’t tell you everything yet because I’m still working on it but I hope you will love the small changes as much as I do.

I don’t know what I would do without notebooks? So, I decided to give some of them a makeover, can’t wait to show you how:

You have seen me spray painting or paint different items in the past but now you will see me using this amazing Martha Stewart glass paint set:

this is another fun and easy project that I can’t wait to complete, so I can share it with you very soon:

This is a sneak peek of a future post that I’m also very excited about. I think you will enjoy reading all about it!

another easy DIY project:

DIY project preview

As soon as there will be less wind outside I will be working on this old side table, it needs a serious update. I might keep these leather handles:

old furniture with baskets and leather handles

You might recognize these crates from Michael’s, I got them a while ago for a DIY project but never got around to it. I have so many options and so many possibilities of what I can do with these that I am overwhelmed and can’t decide what to do yet. Any ideas? I have considered them for a side table next to this reading corner in our dining area or for storage on top of our new pantry. I might paint them or stain them in the following weeks. I took a picture of them so you can see what I’m talking about and if you have any ideas for me please let me know, I would appreciate them!

Last but not least, this is a small project I will be working on this week with my little assistant. Can’t wait to get my hands on these:

Too many projects going on at the same time?

This spring will be a busy one, so let’s hope May will bring warmer days too. I’m still working on many of these projects but I will make sure to share them with you when they will be completed. Hope you stick around!

Thanks again for stopping by!

Ingrid’s, you’ve got so much going on it makes my head spin!! And with a 2 year old? (Almost) lets. See. To start…you are nervous about the red…I love read too but agree with hubby that in a bathroom in would give me stage fright. You could get away with red towels and an accent or 2, even if its a small space. I was also wondering how you felt about corals…there are neutrals all the way to brights that might work for you. I’m kolor shy..our house is old so with all the constant remodeling I get tired of it & want our paint to stay for at least 2 years.

As for the crates, I wonder if you could use them on a wall. You could even put a shelf between them. Might be cute in the entrance for shoes, and put the shelf in the middle with coatracks. I can’t wait to see what all you come up with!

Thank you so much Amy for sharing all your lovely and great ideas with me! I really like them, you are right about the red, I could have accessories in red. As for corals, it’s true I didn’t think about it until now; I like them very much and I think it would look great, thank you! I really LOVE your idea to use the crates in the entrance for shoe storage 🙂 YAY! I think I will go with this! thanks Amy, you are so sweet! so many decisions to make 🙂

Ingrid! I am so impressed by your upcoming projects!! I can’t wait to see finished results, etc.! And I think the gray will be beautiful in the bathroom. But I also think (maybe because I too am a huge fan of red) that the red would be a great accent color for the room to go with the gray. 🙂

Wow Ingrid! You put me to shame! I cannot wait to see all the great things you come up with. I’m glad you’re happy with the glorious weather we’re having, as am I! Love those crates! How about using them for your magazines and just laying them on the floor by a couch or a sitting area? I always have tons of food mags. You could paint them, but I do like their natural look. Actually, I like them just sitting there on top of your pantry! Let me know what you do… Thanks-a-bunch for the mention Ingrid!! You know, we should meet up one day.

I have my hands in a lot of projects right now…so I know what it can feel like to be in process, and excited about it, and yet to feel that sense of urgency to complete SOMETHING so you can share it. How wonderful that you let us in on the beginning and middle stages…and it has actually inspired me to do an “in process” post myself when I start my market bag later this week (hopefully). I doubt it will be a quick sewing project, so a “halfway there” post might be a reasonable goal for me!

Anyway, I can’t wait to see what you spray-painted with that lovely yellow…or what that “easy DIY project” with the twine is all about. So intriguing, Ingrid!
