OK, I know, I’ve mentioned this many times before in my tweets, we are having a complete kitchen and living room renovation in our tiny townhouse.
The renovation should be over very soon, I’m at the point, where I can’t wait to see the final result, but we still need to wait a couple of more days to see it. Once, this renovation will be over, I will be sharing my pictures and whole experience with you.
Here is a sneak pick for the curious ones: a picture of how our new kitchen looked like last Saturday evening, more work is to come in the next days.
Yesterday, we choose our new kitchen backsplash! FINALLY!
It was a big decision.
We went to Home Depot with my mother-in-law and hubby to choose the one we preferred. Once we made our decision, we knew it was the best one for us.
This is the one: Costa Ledgestone from HOME DEPOT
Before choosing our new backsplash, we had a vague idea of what it should be, but we hadn’t decided on anything yet.
I had a lot of questions and ideas in my mind and there are so many choices out there and so many colors and textures to choose from – the task can become daunting and long, particularly when you’ve never done anything like this before.
These are a couple of things we needed to consider before choosing our backsplash:
-color of our new kitchen cabinets (for us vanilla glaze): we needed a contrast, before choosing the ledge stone, we had chosen “travertine” with different cream tones, it was beautiful but didn’t offer the much-needed pop of color in our kitchen.
-color of countertop (for us light beige granite)
-color of our hardwood floors (for us dark brown)
-color of our appliances (for us stainless steel): all stainless steel appliances, can offer a beautiful, elegant, luxurious and polished style in your kitchen, except in our previous kitchen it created a cold space. So, to avoid the same mistake, we choose this ledge stone with beautiful earthy tones to offer a warm kitchen and it added texture.
Here are the pictures I pinned , they helped me make the final decision (my hubby and mother-in-law, were both very helpful)
If you follow my blog, you know I love these spaces because they are cozy and would love to have my family and friends around. Now, I just need that banquette (earlier post), I keep dreaming about.
I will be posting the before and after of my kitchen very soon!
Thanks again for stopping by!
